Tata Communications, a digital ecosystem enabler that powers today’s fast-growing digital economy, worked with one of South East Asia’s leading manufacturing enterprise for a network transformation solution. The latter had grown over time, organic and inorganic growth, across multiple countries. This translated to many ERP systems with multiple supply chain and inventory systems leading to major inefficiencies.

Tata Communications partnered with the enterprise to create a solution, custom-built to address all the issues and delivered an award-winning solution. The objectives were clear – deliver intelligence, flexibility and single pane of glass to drive improved cost of ownership for the IT team. The proposed solution was based on an agile methodology with a modular approach that would suit today’s unpredictable and rapidly changing business conditions.

In manufacturing, visibility is critical: intimate knowledge of one’s supply chain and inventory levels leads to a greater ability to control costs, respond to customer demands and anticipate changes in business trends.

The manufacturer wanted to optimise the user experience so that regional ERPs could be merged into one central ERP system.

Tata Communications proposed a secure, managed software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) solution to provide not only an application-layer visibility and control, but also the flexibility of bringing together multiple underlay network technologies.

These underlay network technologies were based on Tata Communications’ award-winning IZO proposition, which provides deterministic latency on Internet type of transport. One of the important aspects of this proposed modular agile solution was integrating a bring-your-own-network (BYON) approach that would provide the same level of application visibility and control as the rest of the network.

The solution created additional value for the manufacturer. It went above and beyond the expectations of the enterprise and delivered a robust foundation for its future digital transformation projects. It improved the visibility and control, network uptime and enhanced prioritisation for critical applications.The BYON approach also meant that the organisation found a solid system to honour all their on-going, long-term contracts with other service providers.
